Flasher units are designed for vehicles with traditional direction indicator filament bulbs. The flasher unit provides the lights intermittency by a regular interruption of the current flowing through the circuit. International regulations require the Failure Detection of a lamp for vehicles driven on public roads. The flasher warns the driver by increasing the flashing rate of the direction indicators lights or by switching off an indicator light on the dashboard (for trailers).
